Visit the A11 on Open Sites Day

May 28, 2015

The new A11 is taking shape!

The A11 is a new motorway in Belgium, between the N31 in Bruges and the N49 in Westkapelle. The 12 km long motorway provides a better connection between the Seaport of Bruges and the hinterland.

In collaboration with Landscape Architects Bas Smets, ZJA has made the spatial design for the A11.

On Sunday, May 31st, 2015, interested parties can get a peek behind the scenes of the A11.

Visitors will then be greeted at one of the landmarks of the construction project; the new crossover situated in between the railway line Bruges-Zeebrugge and the Boudewijn Canal.

The crossover, designed by ZJA in cooperation with Schlaich Bergermann, is 17 m high and more than 800 m long, and spans both the tracks and the canal. Visitors will be guided along and under the crossover, for an overview of what the A11 has to offer in terms construction and technical works of art.
