Construction A11 Brugge – Knokke progresses rapidly

30.06.2016

The construction of the new A11 motorway between Bruges and Knokke-Heist (Westkapelle) is progressing rapidly. The 12 kilometre long highway allows for an easy connection between the seaport of Zeebrugge and Knokke-Heist, and is being built at several yards. As an example, the moveable bridge across the Boudewijn channel recently arrived at its location by boat and is now being assembled piece by piece. The A11 intersects the Boudewijn channel with a double moveable bridge, allowing large vessels to pass.

Commissioned by the consortium Via Brugge, ZJA made the design for the A11 Bruges – Knokke-Heist motorway. At the beginning of September, the intersection Westkapelle and the roundabout near Knokke will be opened. The completion of the A11 is scheduled for the second half of 2017.
