Opening Versluys Arena, Oostende

28.07.2016

On Friday, August 5th, the Versluys Arena, formerly known as the Albertpark stadium, will officially be opened with the football match between Club Brugge and KV Oostende. Currently, the seats are being installed on the new grandstand, designed by ZJA and abv + architects. Fitting of the changing rooms is progressing well, and the construction of the new roof has been finished. Work is ongoing day and night, with at peak times some 300 workers making sure everything is ready on time.

The new grandstand will seat more than 3,700 spectators and has changing rooms, a VIP room, offices, a press area and a public canteen. The new building is partly built below ground level. This limits the height of the stadium in such a way that the stadium does not block any daylight from local residents.
