He spent his childhood in his mother's country, Thailand, but he speaks excellent Dutch, thanks to a Flemish father. His first training was as an industrial designer, where he focused on furniture. But then he did a bachelor's degree in architecture in Cardiff, Wales, he worked a year as architectural designer in Newcastle, followed by a master's degree at TU Delft.
'I see architecture as the connection of technology and creativity and moreover, the underlying goal is to improve the living environment of human communities. My final project in Delft was about homes for the elderly. The idea of creating a social network around the elderly was included in the design, through social activities, a mix with younger people, guest rooms, etc.’.
He is happy that he has found a job at ZJA. As a junior architect, you quickly have more responsibility and there is room to come up with your own ideas. That is rare. Moreover, ZJA approaches the design process in an innovative way, which is inspiring. What he appreciates is that they work on large scale projects. His dream project would be to design an airport. It is enormously complex, and in addition to being pleasant and comfortable, it must also be a representative gateway to a country or a city, which requires creativity.
His free time is well spent. He likes to play chess and ponder chess problems. On guitar, bass and computer he makes solid rock music. And then there is sports, Brazilian jiu jitsu and Muay Thai boxing. His girlfriend, who works at Lego, sometimes brings home interesting packages to build, which he appreciates too.
