Climate House and UK Terminal recognized with awards again

The Olympic Winter Games may be behind us, but the medals are still pouring in here. The Climate House took gold and the Eurostar UK Terminal won bronze at the prestigious WAN Awards, while the Eurostar UK Terminal received platinum during the monthly jury review of the Frame Awards. We are once again immensely proud of this international recognition for these two exceptional projects, which we were able to realise together with our dedicated partners.

International recognition

The World Architecture News (WAN) Awards were established to recognize outstanding architecture on an international scale. The jury noted that the standard of this year’s entries was exceptionally high, which makes us even prouder to have received Gold for the Climate Greenhouse in the ‘Overall Sustainable Architecture’ category and Bronze for the Eurostar UK Terminal in the Transport category. One of the Frame Awards jurors said of the project: “I love the contrast between the heritage brick exterior and the crisp, contemporary white interior. It’s almost as if you’re entering a time travel portal where time stands still before you embark on an exciting journey.”

Brand-new terminal in monumental building

At Amsterdam Central Station, the architects of ZJA Architects & Engineers (architect of the UK Terminal) and Superimpose Architecture (architect of the interior of the passenger area), commissioned by NS Stations, Eurostar and ProRail, have carefully integrated the new terminal into the listed building. This ‘terminal of the future’ marks a new era for cross-border rail travel, visibly bringing together different layers of time, technology, aesthetics and efficiency.

A visibly sustainable icon

Visibly sustainable, while preserving and enhancing its architectural value, the renewed House at the Hortus in Amsterdam was opened to the public in 2025. ZJA Architects & Engineers originally designed this landmark in the heart of Amsterdam in 1993 and also created the new design. The interior design and layout were developed by BOOM Landscape and Designwolf, while ABT was once again responsible for the structural design.
