The city of Hoofddorp required a relatively large sports centre. The local authority asked a few real estate developers to design a building plan, which allowed for a prominent place for the sports centre but which also included other buildings which are needed to finance the sports centre.
The winning plan was designed by the architects ZJA, by commission of development company Meerschip.

The plan did not only include the sports centre but also a hotel, several industrial accommodations, day-care centres, a congress centre, a fitness centre, a large parking garage and an office centre.

The sports centre was the central theme of our design: a complex with a connection between the buildings, making the sports centre accessible for everybody. To emphasize this idea we also designed a large training circuit situated across the undulating roofs and through some of the buildings.
