On the new artificial island Y-burg in Amsterdam, next to the new bridge of Nicolas Grimshaw, the architects ZJA designed a multipurpose office building: Warehouse Y. Possible users: shops, a garden centre, companies, work shops and a restaurant.
The building has three floors around an inner courtyard with parking places underneath and covered by a translucent umbrella. On all sides the view can be enjoyed to the full. The balconies have been positioned slightly lower than the floors in order to prevent the rail from blocking the view. On the sunny sides, the facade has sunscreens made out of a steel grill. The car park under the building offers direct access to all floors.
