The architects ZJA designed a new oval intersection that divides traffic to and from highway A 325. The roundabout is situated above the partly existing freeway.

In order to achieve a clearly recognisable element, a singular span was chosen. To do so, we first re-shaped the road - which was originally planned to be a flattened oval - to an oval without straight lines. Because of the current expansion of Nijmegen to the North, we wanted to achieve a more expressive design. This viaduct forms the gate of Nijmegen, and it should be recognisable as such.
